DRC’s convicted-militia leader Thomas Lubanga wants to research ethnic violence

In 2012 Lubanga was given a 14 year prison sentence but he had been in detention since 2006 and that was counted as time served.

Congolese militia leader Thomas Lubanga is seeking to be freed early from jail. He was sentenced to 14 years for using child soldiers and raping girls but now he’s eligible for release. And he says he should be allowed out, to research the causes of ethnic violence. CCTV’s Jane Kiyo reports.
