Dragon-slayer Dybala extends Juventus contract to 2022
Juventus Argentine forward Paulo Dybala has extended his contract with the Italian giants until June 2022, the Serie A champions announced on Thursday.
The 23-year-old has been a revelation for the Turin club, scoring 16 goals in all competitions so far.
Nicknamed The Jewel, Dybalas latest goals for Juventus came against Spanish giants Barcelona during the first leg of their quarter final UEFA Champions League game, giving them an upper hand going into the second leg to be played next week.
Should they see their progress into the semi-finals at the expense of Barcelona, the Italian side will be just two wins away from winning that elusive Champions League title the club has for years yearned for.
The Argentine joined the Italian giants from Palermo in 2015, and managed to net 23 times in 46 matches in all competitions in his first season.
He has already won the Serie A and the Italian Cup, and is on course to win another Serie A title, with the chase for a Champions League title still on course.
Juventus said in a statement that, following the contract extension, Palermo would be paid a performance bonus of 8 million euros ($8.51 million), divided into four instalments.
