Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh arrived in Somalia on Saturday for an official visit in which he will hold talks with Somali leader Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo.

During his stay in Somalia, President Guelleh will attend the official opening ceremony of the Djibouti embassy in Somalia.

Ahead of his arrival in Mogadishu, security was beefed up, with Somali forces increasing their presence across the city.

“It is an honour to welcome H.E President Ismail Guelleh on his official state visit to Somalia this morning. Djibouti is a true friend, ally and brother. We have deep roots, historical ties and a shared future of common progress and prosperity,” President Farmajo said.

President Guelleh has been accompanied to Somalia by a high-level delegation that will engage in talks between the two sides.
