Disneyland in Africa: Plans to build the first Disneyland in Zimbabwe are underway

Read < 1 minute

Zimbabwe’s ambitious plan to build Africa’s Disneyland is moving ahead. The country’s Tourism Minister says a Chinese investor has been secured to develop a 300-hectare piece of land set aside for the project.

Last November Victoria Falls opened its new airport to the world. The 150 million dollar gateway has increased passenger handling capacity three fold.

It’s not the only facelift the resort town is getting.

Zimbabwe’s Government has secured a Chinese partner to help it upgrade infrastructure and develop state of the art amenities in the country.

Two international airlines have started flying direct into Victoria Falls. Tourism players are bracing for the increased arrivals and expect the impending project to open up a whole new market.

Authorities have also allayed fears that the development may detract from the aesthetics of the fall, saying the natural habit will remain intact.

Prior to the airport there hadn’t been any major development in the nation for over 20 years, but now there are big changes on the way and not just to the look of the town.

Victoria Falls has been granted Special Economic Zone status that means any investors will get incentives including tax breaks and exemption from indigenisation laws.

If they should flock here, as Government hopes they will enjoy the sweet melodies and good times that set to roll here again
