A study by the Kenyan government reveals that one in every 21 Kenyans is disabled and in an economy that with an overall unemployment rate of about 40 percent, many are just but trying to cope.
Nellie Maurice, a mother of three contacted polio when an outbreak hit the village she was born in and hers is another inspiring story of disability is not inability because this did not put her down.
She knits babywear right on the streets of Kenya’s capital, downtown Nairobi, a business she partially learnt from the internet.
Initially she started by selling pendants and key holders but soon after she realized that the money was in hand made baby wear.
