Didier Drogba plans to visit Kenya soon on a charity mission, the Ivorian football legend announced without giving dates.
The 41-year-old former Chelsea striker will make the visit in honor of Samburu Girls Foundation, a non-profitl organization that rescues young girls from child marriage and FGM.
“Can’t wait to come visit you my Samburu girls,” he wrote on Twitter.
“Josephine Kulea, can’t thank you enough for dedicating your heart for these beautiful girls. Keep up the great work.”
Drogba scored 157 goals in 341 appearances in his first eight-year spell at Chelsea and added another seven in 40 when he returned for one more season, cementing his place as the club’s fourth all-time highest scorer.
Drogba retired from international football in 2014 and professional football in 2018, drawing the curtains in a largely successful career that saw him win multiple trophies including after winning four Premier League titles and one UEFA Champions League title.
He is Cote d’Ivoire’s all-time top scorer with 65 goals and was named the African Footballer of the Year in 2006 and 2009.
After his post on Twitter, many Kenyans took to social media to welcome him to the country.
