Dana Boente appointed as new acting attorney general by US Pres. Donald Trump, says will defend “Muslim ban”

After dismissing Sally Yates, US President Donald Trump on Monday night appointed Dana J. Boente as the United States attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Mr. Boente is expected to serve as acting attorney general until Mr. Trump’s nominee for attorney general, Senator Jeff Sessions, an Alabama Republican, is confirmed, the New York Times reports.

Boente has previously worked as the United States attorney for the Eastern District of Louisiana from Dec 2012 to Sept 2013

The  62-year-old has also worked for the Justice Department since 1984 under both Republican and Democratic administrations.
