COVID-19 cases in Somalia soar to 1,689 as 95 new cases confirmed
Somalia reported 95 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the total number of cases to 1,689, the country’s health ministry said.
According to the health minister Fawziwa Abikar, 31 patients had recovered from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 235.
The death toll stands at 66 after 5 more patients succumbed to the virus.
Somalia has taken urgent measures to counter the effects of COVID-19 and contain the spread of the virus, including closing schools, banning large gatherings and suspending both international and domestic passenger flights.
