Cote D’Ivoire appoints more women in the cabinet

More women have been appointed in the new government in Cote D’Ivorie with the hopes of accelerating the economic growth of the country.
The world’s top cocoa producer Prime Minister Daniel Kablan handed out one out of four cabinet posts to a woman. A total of nine women are present in the 36 member cabinet with some of the posts being health, urban planning and education. However, key ministries, Justice, defence and foreign affairs still remain in male hands.
President Alassane Ouattaara was re-elected for a second term last year pledged more jobs for the youth, a fairer distribution of wealth and good governance.
The Prime Minister and his government had resigned in the beginning of the year ahead of the President’s reshuffle. The Prime Minister was reappointed by the President.
