Provisional results are trickling in after Cote d’Ivoire’s crunch elections, with the final outcome set to be announced on Tuesday.

Outgoing president Alassane Ouattara is tipped to secure a second term, off the back of a strong economic growth and in the face of a fractured opposition.

There are fears of low voter turnout though, after a partial boycott by the country’s opposition coalition.

Technical glitches with a biometric voting system resulted in delays.

However, Cote d’Ivoire’s Independent Electoral Commission has deemed the poll credible.

And the African Union Observer Mission has also described the election, which is seen as crucial to restoring stability to the country, as transparent and peaceful.
