
Committee formed to inquire into the landslide that killed over 100 people in Ethiopia
The government of Ethiopia has formed a committee to investigate the cause of the garbage dump landslide that killed at least 113 people in the county’s capital Addis Ababa.
As the country continues on its three day of national mourning for the victims, the committee made up of professionals from the Addis Ababa University and University of Texas have been mandated to investigate the incident according to Xinhua.
Dagmawit Moges, Head of Addis Ababa City Administration Communication Affairs Office, said that the chance of finding new people under the rubble is next to none.
Most of the victims were in their homes when the landslide hit the 36-hectare municipal landfill on Saturday night. Addis Ababa government has evacuated 320 inhabitants from the area.
