Chinese peacekeeping squad feted for outstanding contribution in Liberia

The Liberian government has honoured the Chinese peacekeeping anti-riot Police with a coveted national award.

The Liberia Nation al Outstanding Contribution Award was conferred to the squad for its sterling undertaking of police work, during the country’s general election.

The award was presented to the Chinese anti-riot police after passing through the UN Secretary General’s Special representative, Farid Zarif.

This is the first of its kind to be awarded to such a team. According to the citation, the team was honoured for its diligence in ensuring social stability, and having deterred criminal activities effectively during the general election of Liberia this year.

The Chinese have also completed the pioneering task of helping the Liberian Police in training an anti-riot Police squad of 150 officers.
