China’s President Xi Jinping’s opening speech at FOCAC

The historic Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Co-operation has opened in South Africa, the first time it’s being held on African soil, and African leaders from across the continent have gathered for the Summit.

During the summit’s opening ceremony, China’s President Xi Jinping gave a speech, announcing 10 implementation programs that China plans to roll out across the Africa, covering a wide range of issues, from security to health, to agriculture and mining.

President Xi also announced China’s pledge of 60 billion U.S. dollars to ensure that the programs are successful.

President Xi described Africa’s rapid development as exciting and encouraging and the momentum of the continent’s independence as irresistible. He also noted that African countries are accelerating industrialization and seeking independent and sustainable development.

The Chinese president commended the continent for speeding up integration process and speaking with one voice on the international stage.
