China’s State Councellor and Foreign Minister Wag Yi has reiterated his country’s commitment to world peace and prosperity.

Speaking on Friday at the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Wang Yi said “China will continue to safeguard world peace and prosperity and promote development and advancement of mankind.”

He also noted that his country will continue building mutually respectful relations with other nations across the world, but will remain true to the Chinese policy.

“The Chinese people and the peoples of other countries have always treated each other with sincerity and rendered each other mutual support. China and other countries have become stakeholders sharing a common future facing international uncertainties trying to maintain the stability and continuity of its foreign policy and will continue to pursue the major country diplomacy with distinct Chinese features,” he said.

“We will neither subordinate ourselves to others nor coerce others into submission. We are against the abuse of power and will never yield to pressure.”

UNGA 74 opened on 17 September, though the first day of the high-level General Debate was held on Tuesday and will run until 30 September.
