Read < 1 minute

China’s Ambassador to Somalia, Wei Hongtian says China’s resolve is to uphold diplomatic ties with the horn of Africa nation, in spite of the prevailing security challenge.

This comes in the wake of the recent attack on Mogadishu’s Jazeera Hotel, where at least 13 people including a Chinese embassy official were killed. Somalia’s Foreign Minister Abdusalam Omer says his government will not back down, until the Alshaabab group, which claimed responsibility for the attack, is wiped out.

CCTV’s Kofa Mrenje reports from Mogadishu.
