China has embarked on a pilot project to fight malaria in Tanzania.

With the project, China hopes to reduce the disease burden on the country. Already Tanzania has made significant strides in the fight against malaria.

By last year it had managed to reduce malaria prevalence from 33 percent in 2005 to 9 percent in 2015.

The current project is being rolled out in Rufiji area with plans to spread it to other districts.

China hopes this intervention will supplement efforts by various organizations to fight and ultimately eradicate malaria by 2030.
