China donates conference center to South Sudan
China has donated a conference center to South Sudan’s unity government in the capital Juba.
Beijing promises to continue supporting the world’s youngest nation, but urges Juba to work to bring peace back to the country.
The conference center donated to South Sudan’s ministry of Foreign Affairs is one of the many projects China is implementing in the country.
China’s Foreign Direct investment in South Sudan is worth US$5 billion. The investment is mostly in the oil sector.
Beijing is also helping Juba to build its infrastructure.
The President Xi Jinping administration is also part of nations that are contributing troops to South Sudan’s peace process.
China is currently working on Infrastructure projects worth US$ 169 million in the country.
It is also providing scholarships and technical trainings to around 4,500 South Sudanese people.
Analysts however say all this assistance will have little impact on the country unless peace returns.
