Changjiang Media Signs “China Shelf” with University of Nairobi and Kenya National Library

September 25, 2019, a publisher from China’s Hubei Province held the “China Shelf” Kenya Cooperation Signing Ceremony in Nairobi. The Hubei Publishing Cultural Achievements Exhibition was part of the event, which was sponsored by Hubei Changjiang Publishing and Media Group.

Hundreds of books reflecting the cultural achievements of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China were displayed in the exhibition. Chinese scientists were also there to tell their stories of China-Africa joint research.

Kenyan officials, including Isaac Mbeche, Vice Chancellor of University of Nairobi, have expressed appreciation and support for Changjiang Media’s move into Africa and Kenya. They hope that more Chinese publishers and cultural products themed in China and Africa will come to Africa to help create a closer relationship and deeper cultural exchanges.

At the ceremony, students from the Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi performed a group dance entitled the Beauty of China and a solo entitled Me and My Country.
