CHAN: Chipolopolo get sweet revenge against Zimbabwe
Issac Chansa’s goal made the difference as Zambia beat Zimbabwe by a solitary goal in the on-going CHAN tournament in Rubavu, Rwanda.
Chansa scored the goal in the 57th minute to ensure the Zambians begin their campaign on a positive note, while piling pressure on Zimbabwe who will face Mali in their second match.
The win gave the Chipolopolo a long awaited revenge against the Zimbabweans, who denied them a place in the 2014 competition when they ran away winners by 1-0.
Zimbabwe went on to finish fourth in the tournament that time, after losing to Nigeria’s Super Eagles in a third place play off.
The Chipolopolo will play Uganda in their second game.
On their only previous participation at the CHAN, Zambia finished 3rd at the inaugural tournament held in Cote d’Ivoire.
