Egyptian investigators said on Monday that the flight recorder of the EgyptAir flight MS804 that crashed in the Mediterranean has been successfully repaired, paving way for analysis of the data that may subsequently explain why the jet crashed last month.

The investigators said that the plane’s cockpit voice recorder would begin to be worked on “within hours” also.

The recorders were transferred to Paris from Cairo for repair in order to obtain information from them that could lead to a breakthrough in knowing the cause of the crash.

They will now be sent back to a laboratory in Cairo for data analysis once the repairs are completed.
