Crucial elections in the Central African Republic have been postponed by three days. Sunday polls in Central African Republic, were meant to restore democratic rule in the aftermath of bitter conflict.

Mainly Muslim rebels seized power in the majority Christian nation in early 2013, provoking reprisals from Christian militias that triggered a sectarian violence.

Voting for president and parliament was scheduled for Sunday, but it will now take place in December 30th.

Officials argue they needed extra time to organize the vote.

The postponement of the polls now allows for more successful organization, according to officials.
