Martins Usule scored the only goal as Nigerian champions Enyimba claimed its first win of the 2019/2020 CAF Confederations Cup after edging out San Pedro of Côte d’Ivoire 1-0 at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba on Sunday.

Enyimba, semifinalists in 2018, now lies second in the Group D behind Hassania Agadir of Morocco on goal difference and one point ahead of Paradou of Algeria and San Pedro respectively, who have a point each. Paradou hosts Hassania Agadir later on Sunday.

In Group B, last year’s runners-up RS Berkane of Morocco drew 1-1 away to Zambian side ZANACO. Djibril Ouattara opened the scoring in the 15th minute but Charles Zulu equalized 10 minutes later.

Berkane tops the group on four points on goal difference from Dr Congo’s Motema Pembe, who beat Benin’s FC Esae 2-0. ZANACO lies third on two points while Esae is bottom with no points.

Egyptian side El Masry scored twice in each half to record a 4-2 win at home to Nigeria’s Enugu Rangers to make it two wins from two games in Group A.

Another Egyptian side, Pyramids FC will host Nouaadhibou of Mauritania in the other late kickoff on Sunday.

Boubacar Talatou netted the only goal as Malian side Djoliba, runners-up in 2012, edged South Africa’s Bidvest Wits in Bamako in Group C while Guinean side Horoya AC went top of the group after thumping Al Nasr of Libya 3-0.
