Brazil is set to play football friendly games against Senegal and Nigeria in Singapore over the next week as the five-time world champions prepare for the South American zone’s 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
The Seleção’s game against the Teranga Lions will be their first meeting ever, while the clash with the Super Eagles will be just the second meeting between the two sides.
The South Americans arrived in Singapore on Monday ahead of the games scheduled for October 10 and 13.
Among the stars included in the Brazilian squad is Paris Saint Germain’s Neymar Jr, who will play his 100th game for the Seleção. Others are Bayern Munich’s Philippe Coutinho, Liverpool’s duo Roberto Firmino and Fabinho, as well as Barcelona’s Arthur.
Ahead of the two games, Brazil’s assistant coach Cleber Xavier hailed the abilities of the African giants.
“Senegal is a very well trained and strong team,” BBC Sport quotes Xavier.
“They conceded few goals during the Africa Cup of Nations with interesting players like Sadio Mane and Idrissa Gueye.”
Xavier also noted the threat posed by Nigeria, highlighting Alex Iwobi as a possible danger man.
Brazil have an impeccable record against African sides, having lost to Cameroon in the 2003 Confederations Cup.
Brazil play Senegal on 10 October before the clash with Nigeria on 13 October.
