Brazil names 23-man squad for FIFA World Cup

Brazil national football team’s coach Adenor Leonardo Bacchi (commonly known as Tite) has named his 23-man squad for the FIFA World Cup scheduled to be staged in Russia starting next month.

Tite has included injured Paris Saint Germain star Neymar in the squad despite being injured.

The Ligue 1 Player of the Season has not had game time since he had an operation on a fractured metatarsal in March.

The South Americans are pooled alongside Costa Rica, Serbia and Switzerland in Group E.

The team’s first game will be played on 17 June against Switzerland.

Brazil finished fourth in the 2014 World Cup staged on home soil, with Germany lifting the trophy for the fourth time in their history.

Here is the Brazilian squad in full;

Coach: Adenor Leonardo Bacchi (Tite)

Goalkeepers: Alisson (Roma), Ederson (Manchester City), Cassio (Corinthians).

Defenders: Danilo (Manchester City), Fagner (Corinthians), Marcelo (Real Madrid), Filipe Luis (Atletico Madrid), Thiago Silva, Marquinhos (both PSG), Miranda (Inter Milan), Pedro Geromel (Gremio).

Midfielders: Casemiro (Real Madrid), Fernandinho (Manchester City), Paulinho (Barcelona), Fred (Shakhtar Donetsk), Renato Augusto (Beijing Guoan), Philippe Coutinho (Barcelona), Willian (Chelsea), Douglas Costa (Juventus).

Forward: Neymar (PSG), Taison (Shakhtar Donetsk), Gabriel Jesus (Manchester City), Roberto Firmino (Liverpool).
