Botswana progressed to the semifinals of the 2019 Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Women’s Championship following a 0-0 draw against Zambia in their final Group B game.

Botswana came into the game needing to avoid defeat to advance as the best runner-up from the group stage at the expense of Malawi.

Both teams had six points but Malawi had a better goal difference of +13 compared to Botswana’s +4.

Zambia, who also had six points, had all-but qualified for the semifinals by virtue of a superior goal difference (+16) to both Malawi and Botswana.

Following the draw, Zambia and Botswana ended the group stage with seven points each with Zambia top on goal difference.

Zambia missed a number of chances to win the game with Rachel Nachula guilty of squandering a penalty in the 75th minute.

The two teams will meet again in the semifinal on August 8.

In the other group game, Zenatha Coleman scored four goals as Namibia thrashed Mauritius 8-0 to earn their first win of the tournament. Beverly Uueziua, Anna Shikusho, Lorraine Jossob and Tuyakula Mulunga got the other goals for Namibia.
