Boko Haram attack kills 11 in Cameroon

Eleven people were killed by Boko Haram in Cameroon’s Tchakamari area during a raid on Thursday night.

A source close to security services told AFP that the militants staged the attack between 10pm Thursday and 1am Friday.

The source said the dead included both children and elderly citizens. The source also said the bodies were burnt.

The Boko Haram conflict began in 2009 in Nigeria. Since then than 27,000 people have been killed and 1.8 million left homeless in the country’s northeast region.

The violence has spilled into neighbouring Niger, Chad and Cameroon.
