Blueprint for pipeline connecting Uganda & Tanzania almost ready
Tanzania’s petroleum authority says that the blueprint for a multi-billion oil pipeline that will connect Uganda’s crude oil fields to the Indian Ocean is almost ready.
Last month, Presidents John Magufuli of Tanzanai and Uganda’s Yoweri Museveni laid the foundation stone for the project.
“During this month they will be completing the feed. The feed is more or less like framing up of the design but also cost. It comes 30% plus or minus. After the feed you invite the contractor now the EPC. He is able to quote whatever he wants to quote,” representative from the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation Kapuulya Musomba said.
Parties involved in the megaproject say things are moving on smoothly. Delegates are discussing how the pipeline project can maximize impact on the countries’ economies.
The project is expected to provide thousands of job opportunities to nationals of both East African nations.
