Benin’s Prime Minister Lionel Zinsou concedes defeat in presidential poll

Opposition candidate and Businessman Patrice Talon has mounted an up set to win the second round of the presidential election, beating his rival Prime Minister Lionel Zinsou.

Zinsou who came out top in the first round has conceded defeat.

The two faced off in the country’s second round on Sunday after none of the candidates failed to secure an outright win in the first round.

Benin’s electoral commission is expected to announce provisional results later on Monday.
