Benin’s President, Patrice Talon has returned to his country after almost one month of medical leave in France.

The country’s Foreign Minister last week confirmed that the 59-year-old had left the country for France to seek medical attention for undisclosed ailment.

Talon underwent two surgeries during his stay in Paris, one procedure due to doctors finding a lesion in his prostate, and a second operation to his digestive system, his office said Monday, AFP reports

President Talon’s absence has been a hot topic in the tiny West African nation for several days

President Talon did not appear at the latest Economic Community of West African States (Ecowas) summit held in Liberia on June 4.

Talon joins a list of African leaders who have recently travelled to Europe seeking medical attention.

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has spent much of his time in London since the beginning of the year for health reasons that have not been publicly disclosed.

Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe has been to Singapore twice since the start of 2017 for medical check-up.
