Beijing confirms fourth case of yellow fever imported from Angola
Beijing’s Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning on Monday announced one more imported yellow fever case, bringing the number of reported cases in the country to four.
At least 158 people have died in Angola, with more than 50 dying in the last month alone according to the World Health Organization.
Kenya has registered two cases of yellow fever, with one patient succumbing to the disease.
A WHO representative in Angola’s capital, Luanda, said on Friday that the possibility of spreading to other provinces was much higher and deaths due to the viral disease transmitted by mosquitoes had been accelerating.
Yellow fever is an acute viral disease transmitted by infected mosquitoes and mostly found in tropical regions of Africa and Central and South America.
