Banned from playing at home Libya train for DRC test in Cairo

Read < 1 minute

Libya will begin their World Cup qualifying campaign against the Democratic Republic of Congo in Kinshasa.

Due to the political situation in Libya, the team has been preparing for the match in Egypt. Libya is banned from playing at home stadiums by the Confederation of African Football and have requested Egypt’s FA to host their matches in Cairo. Libya is expected to file a new appeal against the ban but for now they depend on their neighbours. In the past Libya has used Tunisia but as they are in the same group for the qualifiers they opted out of that agreement.

Libya will also face Guinea in group A and the team is worried about the lack of home ground advantage.
