South African striker Percy Tau ended speculation regarding his future after joining Belgian giants Anderlecht on loan for the 2020/2021 season.

This means Tau will now spend a third successive season in Belgium on loan from English club Brighton and Hove Albion as he also had previous spells with Royale Union Saint-Gilloise and defending league champions Club Brugge.

Tau was on loan last season at Belgian champions Club Brugge, who opted not to retain his services. Tau had scored four times and provided eight assists in 30 appearances in all competitions for Brugge this past season which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

His European career was uncertain as, for a third straight season, he was unsuccessful in securing a UK work permit and it was not clear if he would get another club.

Reports suggested that the 26-year-old may move to Brugge’s league rivals Royal Antwerp instead.

He, however, managed to join Anderlecht who are coached by Manchester City legend and player-manager Vincent Kompany.

Kompany told Tau that the club was going to push him to become the best player he can be.

“I know they are looking back to you in the Premier League. So, it’s our role to take you there.”
