A mass burial has taken place for some of the victims of Monday’s flooding and mudslides in Sierra Leone.

Hundreds of people are still gathered at the central morgue in the capital Freetown. They’re trying to find out if their loved ones are among the dead – but there are concerns over disease.

Sierra Leone authorities made the decision to begin burying hundreds of people in what is one of Africa’s worst flood disaster in living memory. Aid workers say there’s a high risk of disease. Bodies are lying in the open heat because the morgue is overwhelmed.
