#AUKigali2016: PRC comes to a close, hands over recommendations for adoption

31106-img_5759The 32nd Ordinary Session of the Permanent Representative Committee (PRC) ended in Kigali with strong recommendations to be considered by the Executive Council.

The reports adopted by the PRC included the report against violence of women and girls in Africa, consideration of the agenda for the Executive Council among others.

The PRC also considered the AUC budget of 2017, to be examined by the Ministers and submitted to the Assembly for adoption. According to the PRC Chairperson, Cherif Mahamat Zene, who is also the Ambassador of the Republic of Chad, the meeting has given great attention and priority on the audit matters, calling on the members of the Commission to implement the first ten (10) years plan of Agenda 2063 as a priority.

The African Union Commission Deputy Chairperson Erastus Mwencha while delivering his closing remarks commended the PRC Chairperson for his guidance, effectiveness and efficiency in conducting the meeting. He appreciated the work done by the PRC and qualified it as one of the most transformative and organized meeting geared towards achieving the most significant and concise recommendations over a limited time.31106-img_5762

The Chairperson thanked the members of the PRC and the staff of the Commission for the work achieved throughout the meeting. He also thanked the various sub-committees for a job well done to facilitate the efforts of the Commission in paving a smooth platform to prepare for the Executive Council.

The session’s recommendations are to be handed to the 27th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union which kicked off on Wednesday for adoption.
