Arsenal’s Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Liverpool’s Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah on Saturday continued their neck-to-neck race to become the Premier League’s top scorer by notching a goal each.
Aubameyang’s goal was not enough to give Arsenal a victory against a resolute Brighton & Hove Albion as the sides drew 1-1, but it ensured the 29-year-old remained the highest scorer in the league so far with 13 goals from 19 games.
Salah also found the net for his table-topping side as they thrashed Newcastle United 4-0, opening a 6-point gap at the top of the table.
Salah is tied on goals with Harry Kane at 12 goals, with Chelsea’s Eden Hazard following with 10 goals.
Salah and Aubameyang will come face-to-face when Arsenal and Liverpool clash at Anfield on December 30, each seeking to increase their goal tally for the season.
