At least two people were killed on Wednesday when a World War II vintage airplane crashed at the United States’ Bradley International Airport.
The airport’s authorities confirmed the crash, adding that scores others had been injured. They also said an investigation would be launched to determine the cause or the crash.
“We can confirm that there was an accident involving a Collings Foundation World War II aircraft this morning at Bradley Airport,” a post on the airport’s Facebook page said on Wednesday.
The B-17 bomber crashed as it was attempting to land at the airport in Windsor Locks.
Local media shared videos online showing plumes of smoke rising in the sky above the airport after the accident.
The airport was shut following the incident as emergency operations were carried out.
It was not immediately clear how many people were on board the vintage airplane or its destination.
