Kenya’s capital Nairobi is struggling to contain an outbreak of cholera.

At least four people have been confirmed dead so far, and more than 300 suspected cases have been reported.

The country’s largest referral hospital, Kenyatta National Hospital had received about 70 patients by Tuesday evening, some in critical condition and overflowing from the isolation of wards.

Kenya’s Health ministry cancelled the medical certificates of all food handlers to contain the cholera outbreak that has hit Nairobi.

Kenya has suffered several waves of cholera since 1971, according to World Health Organization.

An outbreak in March last year killed 216 people across the country and left at least 13,000 hospitalised, the Star newspaper reports.
