At least 50 people were killed on Tuesday after a suicide bomber blew himself up in the Afghan capital Kabul, government officials said.

The attack also left more than 70 others injured, according to Najib Danish, a spokesman for the interior ministry.

“A suicide bomber detonated his explosives inside a wedding hall where Islamic religious scholars had gathered to commemorate the birthday of Prophet Mohammad,” Reuters quotes Danish.

There were no immediate claims of responsibility for the blast.
