Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has praised Liverpool’s Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah as being “one of the best players in the world right now.”

The Frenchman made the remarks during an interview with beIN Sports, also hailing Liverpool for managing to sign the player.

“Mohamed Salah is a fantastic player,” Wenger said. “He blossomed at Liverpool after being already very good at Roma.

“He is a sensational player. He fell a little bit after the World Cup until the past few weeks, he managed to come back to his best and he is one of the best players in the world right now.

“You have to give credit to Liverpool, with many clubs on the market and be able to sniff a player like him, shows that they did very well.”

Salah joined the Reds in 2017 and went on to have a wonderful first season, during which he set a new record for most goals in a Premier League season.

The Egyptian tops the goal scoring chart this season too with 21 goals, and still has two games to play before the season ends.

Liverpool face Barcelona I the Champions League semi-finals as they look to reach the final in the second consecutive year.

The other semi-final will see Tottenham Hotspurs play Ajax.
