Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has hailed football players from Africa, admitting that they had a massive impact his career.

Addressing a press conference ahead of the Gunners’ Premier League game against Burnley, the veteran manager described African players as being footballers that combine strength and agility very well, a combination that is very difficult to find.

“I like the fact that they are creative, usually offensive players, players with imagination, pace and power. They combine usually well strength and agility, and that’s very difficult to find.”

The 66-year-old French tactician also praised the continent’s passion for football.

“Overall I think they are usually passionate people. There is a big passion in Africa for the game.”

Nigerian prodigy Alex Iwobi has been a constant feature for the Gunners this season and has been in fine form, providing three assists in the Premier League so far, just one shy of leader Kevin De Bruyne.

The 20-year-old has been short-listed for the Golden Boy award.

Arsenal play Burnley away on Sunday on the back of four consecutive wins.
