At least six people were killed in an armed rebel attack on Tshabi village in Ituri Province, Democratic Republic of Congo.
About 30 people from the village are missing and are suspected to have been kidnapped by the rebels, according to a chief in the area.
About 100 cattle were also said to have been stolen during the raid.
The attack has been blamed on the Allied Democratic Front (ADF), a rebel group that originated in Uganda.
A Congolese military spokesman said five of the attackers were killed and one soldier died following a fight that reportedly last for more than an hour.
The ADF primarily operates in eastern Congo and is suspected of having links to Islamic State and is named on the United States Terrorist Exclusion List, which lists terrorist groups identified by Washington.
