Algeria on Thursday announced that the death toll of COVID-19 has risen to eight in the country.

The state-run ENTV channel quoted a statement of the Health Ministry as saying that the overall confirmed cases with COVID-19 has soared to 82, including 8 deaths.

The majority of the cases have been registered in Frantz Fanon Hospital in Blida province.

In a bid to limit the spread of COVID-19, the government has taken measures including asking people to stay at home, closing borders, suspending air and sea voyages, suspending marches and sit-ins, as well as closing crowded places such as schools, universities, sport arenas and mosques.
