Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune entered a military hospital in the capital Algiers on Tuesday, three days after his self-imposed lockdown, the Presidency announced in a statement on Tuesday.
The statement said Tebboune entered a specialized unit for treatment in the military hospital on the recommendation of his doctors.
It assured that the president’s health condition “is stable and does not cause any concern.”
The source added that the president continues his daily activities at his treatment center.
Tebboune began self-imposed lockdown last Saturday after contacting senior officials who showed symptoms of COVID-19.
Algerian Health Ministry on Tuesday reported 287 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total tally of infections to 56,706.
The ministry also announced nine new fatalities from the novel coronavirus, raising the country’s death toll to 1,931.
Algeria, which reported its first COVID-19 case on Feb. 25, has been resuming economic and commercial activities since June 7.
