Algeria has suspended all flights to Libya following the detention of hundreds of Moroccans trying to travel to Libya through the international airport in Algiers.
According to the Aviation Authority in Algeria the cancellation will be effective from the 29th of January, giving no reason for the suspension.
Libya has become a regional concern after the Islamic State Militants gained ground there and started calling for foreign recruits especially from North Africa.
Security analysts fear that Moroccans are entering Algeria to cross into Libya to reinforce the Islamic State militant group which has set base in Sirte, Libya.
The decision to suspend all flights came hours after the new Libyan Prime Minister Fayez Seraj visited Algeria for a meeting with President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
The Prime Minister is part of the United Nation’s backed unity government which is meant to bring the two rival factions causing conflict in Libya together.
