Alex Iwobi signs new contract with Arsenal
Nigerian footballer Alex Iwobi has signed a new long term contract with arsenal following speculations of his leaving the team on loan to another team.
The 19 year old player has joined Arsenal academy when he was in primary and his years of playing ball seem to have paid off
“I’m delighted to have signed a new contract, especially with a club like Arsenal who are so big,” he told Arsenal.com. “I’m happy to sign for them.
Iwobi has been a mainstay of Arsenal under 21s. He impressed his team this season after he scored his first senior goal for Arsene Wenger club in the Emirates cup against Lyon after traveling to Singapore in July.
Alex finished the 2014/15 campaign with nine goals in nine matches for the under-21s and has continued his scoring form this season, netting twice in five appearances for the second string.
Having represented England at youth level, the Lagos born youngster is currently in Nigeria playing international matches against DR Congo and Cameroon this week.
