Read < 1 minute

South African football club Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has rued his team’s elimination from the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan. Host club Kashima Antlers survived a first-half battering from Mamelodi Sundowns before scoring twice in the last half-hour to beat the African champions 2-0 on Sunday. Yasushi Endo and substitute Mu Kanazaki scored to earn Kashima a semi-final against South American champions Atletico Nacional on Wednesday.

It’s the fourth year in a row the African champions have faltered at the first hurdle.
