Africa tripartite economic bloc launched in Egypt

Twenty-six countries representing the three African economic blocs; the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa, the Southern Africa Development Community, and the East African Community have officially been joined into one free trade area. They signed the Sharm El Sheikh Declaration earlier on Wednesday kicking off a process that should ease movement of goods across the entire region consisting of 625 million people and making up 62% of Africa’s total GDP.
