Kenya has been stripped of the hosting rights for next year’s Africa Nations championship.

CAF’s Executive Committee took the decision during a meeting in Accra, Ghana on Saturday.

Kenya has been lagging behind in stadia construction with two venues at infancy stage with just four months to kick-off.

Kenya was awarded the rights in 2013 but work only begun on some stadia last month. CAF will now re-open bidding for the 2018 competition which is reserved for players who feature in their national leagues.

This is the second time Kenya is failing to honour a continental football hosting commitment. In 1996 they pulled out of hosting the cup of nations at the last minute.

The inspection for the new host country will be completed in the next 15 days.
