Seven-time African champions Egypt was held to a shock goalless draw by Comoros in Moroni on Monday leaving the Pharaohs without a win after their second 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match.

Comoros, dominated the game against the Egyptians, who were yet again missing Mohamed Salah and only managed one shot on goal. Egyptian goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy was called to action twice to keep out efforts from Nasser Chamed and Said Bakari.

Comoros remains top of Group G after Kenya drew 1-1 with Togo in Nairobi. Hakim Ouro-Sama’s strike in the 64th minute canceled out Johanna Omolo’s long-range effort in the first half.

Defending champions Algeria edged past 10-man Botswana 1-0 courtesy of a 15th-minute goal from Youcef Belaili to maintain their 100% record in Group H.

Ghana also made it two wins out of two games in Group C after a second-half penalty by Jordan Ayew saw off Sao Tome e Principe 1-0.

In Group F, Mozambique twice came from behind to force a 2-2 draw away to Cape Verde to stay top of the group.

Pa Modou netted an injury-time equalizer as Gambia returned to the top of Group D following a 2-2 draw at home against the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The latest 2021 AFCON qualifiers will be played today before the campaign takes a break and resumes in August 2020.
