AFCON 2019 SEMIS: West Africa vs North Africa affair

The Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals line-up in Egypt this Sunday is out with the best-ranked team in Africa, Senegal, scheduled to lock horns with Tunisia.

In the other semi-final, Algeria, which has not lost a single match will take on Nigeria.

Tunisia booked a ticket to their first Africa Cup of Nations semi-final in 15 years after they beat Madagascar 3-0 and diminished hopes of the Indian Ocean islanders making it to their very first semifinal.

Madagascar, ranked 108th in the world, were the talk of town making headlines of their debut tournament in Cairo.

On their way to the quarterfinals they had stunned African footballing giants among them Nigeria.

Another North African side Algeria and who qualified for the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations by beating Ivory Coast 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw after extra time will meet a strong west African side Nigeria.

Algeria is seeking to lift their first AFCON trophy since 1990.

Nigeria have won the cup three times with the most recent one being the 2013 edition. They made it to the semis after seeing off South Africa in the quarters.
